We crossed the border in to Zambia and managed to avoid paying the large visa fee by getting a transit rather than tourist visa, making things much better when we arrived at the first campsite in Zambia - Mama Rulas in Chipata. This was quite something - after so long on the beaches of Lake Malawi everyone took full advantage of the grass to get rid of the last traces of sand from the tents, and while the cook group cooked delicious spag bol, everyone took advantange of the A frame sitting area in the bar…. ummmm…. beer!!!!

Next day we headed through the Copper belt, we had a breakfast / lunch stop at a small town, and feasted on home pade chips and omlettes, and they were fantastic, though somewhat fatty we arrived at Lusaka, the captial City and had chance to do some shopping in a pretty well stocked supermarket, I think everyone came out with some sort of treat :) That night we stayed at another campsite with loads of facilities - Pioneer Camp. I was on truck cleaning duty, and started cleaning the windows, resulting in us cleaning the whole of the outside of the truck and almost falling off the top :( Luckily I calmed my nerves with a beer in the bar :)

Our last day in Zambia was a long days drive through to the near the zimbabwe border through quite hilly windy roads, and looking down in to the valleys showed what would happen to us if we didn’t stay on this windy road, I’ve never seen so many twisted wreaks of vehicles. . We did stop off at a set of stalls by the side of the road, and decided to take a Giraffe home with us, heres a picture of him with his old family :)

That evening we bushcamped near the border, and whilst collecting wood for the fire, I managed to get a sting from a wasp on the ball of my foot, bloody painful, but some vinger fixed that :)
