I thought I’d bring this blog up to date by adding a bit about what i’ve been up to over the last 6 months, its been a crazy time, so theres going to be a lot of writing going on
When I left England for New Zealand we decided to take a 2 month tour through Africa, on the back of an Absolute Africa Truck, we opted for a 55 day trip from Niarobi to Cape Town, taking in Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botwswana, Nambia and South Africa.
So after spending a week packing up my flat and drinking more beer than I ever thought possible we set of to Niarobi, apart from seeing a bit of the Sahara desert we both slept the whole way, and after arriving in Niarobi proceded to sleep for the next day and a half….
Niarrobi was like nothing I’d seen before, so many people, rotting goats being picked over, more air pollution than anywhere, but it felt reasonably safe, but then we were walking round the better parts, and there was about 7 of us.
Eventually it was time to leave Niarobi on our new mode of transport - Pumba - a Scania truck modified to seat about 28 people. We joined a truck that had just come down from Rwanda, with about 14 people that had completed a 22 day tour to see Gorillas.
It was hard to believe for the next 55 days we were going to spend all out time on this big yellow thing, and that it would carry us and all our belongings the 13000km ahead of us.
