Ryan air checked baggage

September 13th, 2006

I had the ‘pleasure’ of flying with Ryan air to Shannon on Monday morning and due to the new security arrangements, banning toothpaste and shaving gel from hand baggage, had to pay the extra 7 UKP to check in my overnight bag.

After having made it through security and waiting at the gate for the plane to board you can imagine how I felt as I watched a bag fall off the end of the conveyor they were using to get the baggage to the hold, and my even greater horror as I watched several others follow and end up on the apron under the plane. As I continued to watch I noticed that my own bag was now making its way up the conveyor to the hold but unfortunately didn’t make it and ended up under the plane, luckily my bag rolled out of the way and wasn’t in the line for the next bag (a large suitcase) to crush it.

By the time we boarded there were around 8 bags (including at least one laptop bag) under the aircraft as shown in the pictures.

There are words for people like these. Unfortunately I don’t think I should publish such rude things on the internet, as I don’t want to sully it’s whiter than white reputation.
