Lots of stuff has happened
Saturday, August 12th, 2006Well, its been a crazy 6 weeks since I found out I was coming to England, needless to say I’m in England working in Canary Wharf in the Credit Suisse building well I was, I’ve now moved to 5 Canada Square (Bank of America Building), living in Brixton, and generally spending a lot of time at work, socialising, catching up with old friends and generally keeping busy. Its the first time I’ve ever had to do the whole commuting / public transport thing in London, and when it works its fantastic, I really don’t mind it at all, but when the tube breaks its not so good, not terrible, just not ideal.
My birthday was a great few days, lots of people came out on the day and many many beers / cocktails were consumed in Belushi’s at Covent Garden, a fantastic night, the following saturday involved a day long drinking session of Magners Cider (yum!) starting at the Queen Mary at Embankment on the Thames and finishing at the Anchor also on the Thames, but near London Bridge.
I got a new phone thanks to Orange UK, I went hard out and got a 3G K800i and its amazing, I’ve had nokias since my first mobile in 1999, and I’ve not regreted changing, with amazingly chrisp screen, an impressive 3MP camera and software that actually works its perfect for my needs. I actaully find myself using the email client rather than switching my my laptop (also with 3G networking!!) something I *never* did with my nokia 6230. Its not all roses though, first the handsfree kit that came with it is rubbish, I’ve had to buy the HPM70 kit that is walkman branded, it has 3.5mm headphone socket so I can now get lovely sound from the M2 memort stick in the phone. I know its cybershot branded, but the original headphones are a joke. The second thing is that the M2 memory sticks are *really* hard to get hold of, and the maximum size is 1Gb, I’d love to have 2Gb of MP3’s on the phone, I guess it’ll come sometime soon.
Er, not sure what else has happened… I had a medical for a NZ skilled migrant visa, an eye check (first for 2 years!) went on Vics boat, had many many curries (thank God for Brick Lane), drank many many types of beer (including a few Tsing Tao’s) and enjoyed the summer weather.
I think I’ve been here 6 weeks now and I have no idea what I’ve sent all the time doing, cause its gone so fast!
