After a bit of digging around in the code on XFM’s website, I’ve extracted the stream URL and found it plays just fine under Linux with xine. The streams are:

mms://ms2.capitalinteractive.co.uk/xfm_high
mms://ms2.capitalinteractive.co.uk/xfm_low

So now I can listen to radio all day long at work in Shanghai, though listening to the Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show in the afternoon is very strange.
